The Shirley and Leslie Porter School of Cultural Studies serves as a framework for doctoral programs, research, and academic activities in the various fields of cultural studies.

The School supports multiple workshops and scientific conventions, and assists research students with various scholarships.

The School incorporates the research activities of the following departments: English and American Studies, Arabic, French, Classical Studies, Literature, Gender, Sociology, the Cultural Studies Program, and the Youth Culture Studies Program.

The School was founded in 1986 by Prof. Itamar Even-Zahar, who served as its first chair.

The current chair is Prof. Michele Kahan (elected in 2015).
